How can I get more traffic to a web site aside from ezine articles and site submission?

White Hat SEO

Hi. I’ve been helping a friend get more traffic to their web site. Is writing for EzineArticles any help? Any other ezine site good?

Aside from web content writing and updating, blogging and search engine and directory submissions, what else can I do to get more traffic to a site?

My friend is unable to update their site often and their site is low on content at the moment. Without the frequent updates, is it no use to get links to the site (as I’ve been trying to do as a third-party)?

What else can I do to help? Any web design suggestions, and other ways to get links?

Also, are RECIPROCAL links (like some directories ask for) any good?

What about multiple links to same URL from the same page(s)? Are they counted the same or not?

Please give me “white hat SEO” techniques, nothing unethical, thanks a lot!

Let me start off by saying that I have searched Google, MSN, Yahoo, Alexa and many other sources. I have found that many directories are either spam or outdated. This leads me to post this message

I am looking for between 30-60 directories that meet these requirements:

#1, Updated as of today.
#2, Search Engine friendly type URL’s.
#3, Rank With Google, MSN and Yahoo.
#4, Not full of spam.
#5, No hidden text or links.
#6, Both paid and free listings.
#7, No recipricol link is needed/asked about.
#8, Category for real estate.
#9, Human Edited would be great.
#10, A timely manner inwhich sites are to be accepted.

Example of a site I like:

As a business owner, if someone guarantees Search Engine Ranking within 72 hours, what is your perception?

White Hat SEO

There is no legitimate ‘white hat’ SEO company that can guarantee Search Engine Ranking in an extremely short period of time (unless they are in bed with Google, and if someone knows one, let me know) If a an SEO company does guarantee results in 72 hours, how is that perceived by the business owner who is their client?
Is it perceived as ‘Cheap Services’ – not justifying the cost of the service, or unethical practices, or simple enough to do on their own?

SEO: Any Suggestions/Advice?

White Hat SEO

Today, I was fired from my recent job. During the termination meeting- I was told I am a very good at completing white hat SEO. I made some very good points last night in regards to a clients website. The website uses in proper Title Tags and has duplicate content. This morning I received an email. I was told to use a cloaking software for a client who is presented by this company I was just fired from. I refused to do so cause it against good SEO standards. I said, however, I will do it if you agree to sign paper work that says I will not be held responsible. Well that sealed the deal for me in being fired.

Honesty does not work in today’s word it seems. I cared about the company, employees and the clients in the long term of things. I am located in CA.

Any suggestions for me? I am not happy right now.
