You won’t be getting this book from your broker for Christmas. You don’t need to read a bunch of “Beat The Market!!!!!” books to develop a sound approach to investing. The authors make a compelling, data driven argument in under 100 pages that describes a “no regrets” approach to investing. Market timing, stock picking, commodity speculating, etc. ultimately benefit the trading pros over the average investor. Choose your asset allocation model with a few simple principles, then buy diversified global capitalism for your equity component with low expenses. And hold it. Done. You won’t be the big winner in any given year, but you will likely out perform 95%+ of investors who buy the proven myth that they can beat the market. There are many purveyors of this snake oil, but few truth tellers. Murray and Goldie get it right, and this book is so short and to the point that you must read it.

What a fantastic book!i learned so much!i’m 61 and for years i’ve been mislead and overcharged by wall street investment brokers.This book explained in concise and very understandable way how to construct your portfolio to achieve your long term growth objectives.i just wish i had had this book 25 years ago.It would have saved me thousands in comissions and brokerage fees and i would have been a lot wealthier today with far less risk.This should be required reading for any babyboomer who has a portfolio and is planning retirement.It should be required reading for anyone of any age who is interested in investing and wants to know where to begin. i am buying a copy for all 15 members of our monthly investment club.

I loved this book. These guys make a compelling and thoughtful case for taking an active role your investment life AND suggests a simple and straightforward approach that is so common sense! It makes total sense. They back up their thesis with lots of easy to read and understand explanaitons…and with pictures that make it understandable; I actually could understand most of the book! The message is so solid and simple…and ultimately so obvious. Yes I know my health stats but could not answer some of the simple questions they pose in “Why did we write this?”. I liked how they back up their philosophy with those straightforward snd simple explanations. And the book is relatively short, like under 70 pages and very readable. Finally, the tone the authors take in the “Why did we write this?” secton comes across as incredibly sincere and from the heart without a commercial bias… It seems that with pure intent, they are putting their best thinking out there to share with the world. Loved it! Get it.
P.S. It’s amazing that they let you download the pdf version, which I did from the web site and read it that way. But I am going to buy the book and send it as a holiday present to my entire family.

This book is a perfect culmination of: Goldie’s experience with frustrated clients due to Wall Street gimmicks, explanations of why Wall Street’s solutions are substandard, and an academically, exhaustive, investment remedy for every investor. BAMM!
The authors’ abilities to “cut to the chase”, and quit the “beating around the bush”, leaves the reader feeling refreshed and informed. Simple examples and compelling stories will resonate well with all levels of readership.
If you are looking for a way to quit worrying about your investments, ignore CNBC & WSJ, and “drop” that confused feeling you have about investing, this is your book! Grab a cold Coke, relax, and enjoy yourself for the next hour of your life. You will forever thank the authors for presenting the information in such a light manner. I bet you will refer the book to at least 3 of your friends.

Several years ago, Gordon sat my husband and me down to show us the beta version of this book. We’d been friends for years and he felt strongly that we needed to know how to protect our money.
